The BBE Two Timer guitar pedal was inspired by the long discontinued BOSS DM-2 Delay. The DM-2 was known for its warm, haunting reverb and tape-like echoes. The Two Timer offers 2 Independent delay times footswitchable via the TIME 1/TIME 2 mode switch. This makes it possible to have one delay setup for a short slapback rhythm sound while another is set to a longer delay for solos.

The Two Timer is essentially two great analog delays in one compact delay pedal. The circuit features a BBD (Bucket Brigade Delay) for the warmth and character only analog can deliver, 1% Metal Film resistors for pristine audio quality plus true hard-wired bypass for a clean signal path when the effect is bypassed.

To create the American version of this genre, we took all the essential circuitry and ingredients of our fabled Dual Rectifier and simply stepped down the displacement to a single pair of power tubes. Pico Plexi Head

The Pico Plexi Head is a miniature tube amp. It uses a 12AX7 in the preamp and a 12AT7. The 12AT7 uses its triodes in push-pull in the power amp section. This little amp is built completely point-to-point for its signal circuitry. A modern switching DC-converter turns the 12V DC voltage that the Pico Plexi Head gets fet through the supplied DC wall-wart (which operates throughout the whole world!) into a whopping 280V for the plates under load at the power amp section! Like the name of this amp already implies, its tonal magic stands solid in the amp tones that are reminicent of the plexi marhall-erea. The Volume and Tone controls are interactive with each other and take you from a slightly crunchy guitartone right down to the classic marshall sound from the sixties with all its dynamics, warm and smooth tone. Because the amp puts out about 0,5 W. of output power, these beautiful tones are available at soundlevels that are almost everywhere acceptable. It even comes with a built-in speaker! Great if you’re into lofi sounds eg. for slide playing or intro-parts on your recordings. The output section can get wired for either 4, 8 or 16 ohms. Simply specify the cab you’re planning on using with this amp and I’ll wire the Pico Plexi Head up accordingly!
 

Pico Power Soak

Allthough 0,5 watts of tube output seems like not much of a deal for an amp, for some users this still is too loud. This also greatly depends on the efficiency of the speaker used. So Ed’s Custom Shop has developed the Pico Power Soak! Like its name implies, this is a power soak. You can vary the output of the power stage of the Pico Plexi Head (or other low-output amps like the Zvex Nano Head) to the speaker. This way, you can still crank the amp up to the desired level while not having to deal with any sound pressure at all.

Ed’s philosophy on guitar tone and electronics... 

Guitartone to me is a positive synergy of many factors that are vital in producing a guitartone. Guitartone, to me, starts with you, the player, and your ability on the instrument to be able to create a great guitartone. This is all about acoustics and has nothing to do with the amplification and tone-altering elements that start as soon as you plug a guitar cord in your instrument in order to have it amplified. In my opinion, the electric guitar is just as acoustic as an acoustic guitar already is or a singer’s voice. The way a tone is produced by you by the way you hit the strings, the place where you do that, wherether you use a guitarpick or your fingers etc. etc. all affects the way your tone develops. For me as a player, this is the challenging part and is in my opinion not available anywhere!

Ed’s Custom Shop does everyting on the subject of electronics in order to have you, the player, get all the other factors that I didn’t mention here above just right for you in order to be able to express your own voice the way you’d like it to have percieved.
To sum it all up: as soon as you plug your guitar in, I’m getting into the picture if you like! Every electrical key-element in producing a great guitartone is a factor that can be adjusted by me to suit your requirements and playing style. This means I do all kinds of work on guitarelectronics, the connections (signalcables (passive and active), routings, switchingsystems, matching impedances etc. etc.), signal manipulations by effects, the amp, the amp’s power management and finally the speaker(s).

Being a musician in the first place and developed my knowledge on electronics throughout the years, I’m able to translate difficult explainable terms of guitartone to technique. Therefore I’m able to develop the right modification(s) to the right key-elements in your signalchain in order to get the tone you want! Sometimes, the solution is simple, sometimes it’s more complex. I do whatever it takes in order for you to be satisfied with my work.

I didn’t choose my company’s name just for the fun of it; Ed’s Custom Shop really is a custom shop! This means that all the things and products that you’ll see on this site don’t need to be the final version of the product you’d like to have. All things I do on equipment or gets built are done piece by piece specifically for you! This means you can have the work done the way you like it to have done. There are hardly any borders on this subject. The most important thing is that you know to a certain minimum extent what you’re looking for. Every project gets talked through first so that both you and I know what to expect from each other. After that, the real fun part starts for me!
Everything that’s been done at Ed’s Custom Shop is done by hand. For instance, when building an amp or an effectspedal, all the planning and drilling on the enclosures, cutting of the circuitboards, placing of all the components, the soldering, the wiring, labeling of the enclosure etc. etc. gets done by me, by hand. This is a very time-consuming journey before a product reaches it’s final stadium of being finished. Several tests get done throughout this whole journey in order to make sure everything operates in the way it should be.
After this, every product gets tested and inspected to the max to make sure it meets my demands for perfection. And just trust me: these demands are high! Any work that gets done by me bears my name and I feel a huge responsability to you because you’ve put your trust in my abilities and I don’t take that trust for granted! So you can be sure that you’re equipment is in the right hands and gets build or worked on with the biggest attention to detail possible!
But above all this, one thing is the most important: playing should be expressive and fun! And I hope I can make this more easily for you by my work

The most common of all the Shergolds in its "Custom" guise. These guitars are very solid and have the characterisiticly superb neck that all the Shergolds share. The versatile electronics make these ideal general purpose guitars, but they are especially popular with rhythm players as the output from the pickups isn't over-powering.
Early examples (prior to early 1976) have Hayman necks fitted (distinquished by a more "waisted" headstock design with extra "German" carving around the headstock edges) and a large scratchplate which the pickups are mounted on, a style that continued until about 1977/1978, when the Custom model started to appear with the pickups fitted on individual mounting rings.
A "Mark 2" model appears in adverting literature around 1980/1981 (along with the Nu Meteor and Mk 2 Marathon). This version has a mahogany or ash body, no scratchplates, through-body controls, and a rosewood fingerboard. One of these has recently come to light and can be seen in the gallery.
When Shergold briefly restarted manufacturing in 1991, the Masqueraders had "Limited Edition" engraved on the the scratchplate, but despite looking nearly identical to the earlier Custom models, the Custom tag was dropped from the name. 
 

The Shergold story: 

Shergold Guitars, or Shergold Woodcrafts Limited, was established in October 1967 by former Burns London employees Jack Golder and Norman Houlder. Based in east London, the company moved from Forest Gate to Harold Wood in 1973.

Initially they concentrated on producing woodwork for other companies, principally for Dallas Arbiter under the Hayman brand (until 1975); for Jim Burns himself under the Burns London banner; "Ned Callan" and Rosetti. When the contract for the Hayman guitars came to an end, the Shergold company found themselves with significant stocks of part finished instruments and raw materials. With this stock they launched their first guitars under their own brand name from late 1975.

Shergold concentrated on guitar production until 1982, when a downturn in the guitar market (especially for home grown instruments) meant that they returned to general custom joinery producing furniture, and only undertaking guitar work on a custom order basis. In 1983, Norman left the company to emigrate to Australia, but would return to the country (but not to Shergold) within a few years. In 1991, Jack began making new Shergold guitars - the Limited Edition Masquerader - due to a rising interest at that time in British guitars from the 1970s. This revival was short lived, as Jack died in 1992. The Shergold company closed shortly afterwards.

Shergold had an eye for innovation - pioneering features that would be used by other manufacturers (bi-directional truss rod, semi through body neck joint on the Cavalier), and others that have surprisingly been forgotten (interchangeable control electronics on the Modulator series). These features were always tempered by a tendency towards clumsy styling - bodies were slab sided, the juxtaposition of arcane Blackletter script on modern instruments, and the quirky logo of a man carving a guitar body all contribute to a style that was often criticised by contemporary reviews, but now has an authentically 1970s retro feel.

The “Firenze” guitar incorporates the best aspects of 25.5” scale bolt on classics, and adds our favorite appointments, pickups and of course style.

Starting with a vintage feeling 21-fret, Canadian-Maple neck, (Think late 60’s “C” neck) that feels exquisitely full, comfortable and above all plays and sounds great. The 4 and 2 headstock allows us to utilize silky-smooth, full-size enclosed gear tuners. A choice of Rosewood or Maple fingerboards rounds out your choice for tonal attack.

The Firenze utilizes a contoured offset body shape for comfort and cool looks. We chose Ash for this instrument for its consistency and tonal characteristics that match well with our pickups.

Speaking of pickups, we chose 3 vintage style Hanson “Blade” mini-humbuckers to combine quiet operation, with bright complex tones with plenty of “spank” but a bit fatter and hotter. The Firenze’s mini-‘buckers drive any tube amp into singing distortion with ease, and convoke comments like: “focused” “fiery” and “ballsy.”

Single volume and master tone is combined with a 5-way pickup selector switch to achieve the following positions:

The Danelectro Original Factory Spec 1959 Reissue Electric Guitar faithfully reproduces the classic electric guitar manufactured from the mid '50s through the late '60s and sold in popular mail-order catalogs. The double-cutaway guitar has a masonite and poplar body with textured tape edging.

The Danelectro guitars bolt-on poplar neck has a rosewood fretboard, and unique "bottle" shaped headstock with open-back 3 in-line tuners. Perhaps the most distinctive features of this guitar are its "lipstick" pickups—originally consisting of alnico bar magnets and copper wiring wrapped in brown tape and mounted in what were—in 1959—surplus chrome-plated, lipstick tubes.

The 1959 Danelectro guitar bridge had a metal base with notches that held the ball-end strings, and a rosewood saddle. Other features included white knobs on dual concentric tone and volume controls, a white "seal" pickguard, and a non-adjustable aluminum truss rod.

The Galaxie 4 is quickly becoming the Surf Guitarist guitar of choice. 

DiPinto has designed a model that straddles the line between classic American design and import oddities.

The radical design elements of the Galaxie 4 electric guitar may require a certain sartorial confidence on stage, but much of the guitar's strength is functional. The Galaxie 4's matching tortoise pickguard and headstock ensemble, star inlays, and four (count 'em, four) pickups scream fun. But the angled headstock combines cool surf looks with the ability to maintain tension across the 42mm nut without the use of string trees. This is especially functional on the Galaxie 4, where it helps the tremolo stay in tune.
 
This lightweight poplar guitar also balances extremely well, with the neck hanging at a very comfortable angle when you're strapped in. The maple, 4-bolt neck is attached to the headstock with a luthiers' joint. The DiPinto Galaxie 4 guitar's Jaguar style tremolo maintains the guitars tuning, bending one string doesn't throw the others out of tune, and the guitar sustains well. It has a 25-1/2" scale length and a club-like shape to the neck.
 
If three pickups are good, four must be better! At first it might seem that the dudes at DiPinto Guitars decided to go a little nuts with the wiring set up, but, like its looks, the wiring of the Galaxie 4 electric guitar is as functional as it is freaky. The 5-way switch offers bridge pickup alone, bridge and two adjacent pickups, middle two, all four (yahoo!), or neck pickup alone. Positions 3 and 4 are hum-canceling combinations of the single coils.
 
These guitar pickups have plenty of punch. The bridge pickup provides a nice twang but also has enough midrange to sound good distorted. Position 2 offers a fine funk tone, and the neck pickup by itself gives enough warmth for jazz combined with plenty of bite for blues. The middle two together make a unique sound that may someday be known as the DiPinto Guitar Tone, like a single-coil neck/middle combo but with more mids.
 
The strength of the Galaxie 4 guitar lies in its style both visually and sonically. Take one of these on-stage and the audience will be talking about it for weeks. Onstage or in the studio, the DiPinto Galaxie 4 will give you a leg up on developing a sound of your own. The Regal Dobro Bass is an import that offers immuculate craftsmanship, tremendous volume/tone, and easy playability (similar to an electric bass because of the thin body). I've been very impressed with mine and wouldn't trade it for any other available acoustic bass. Gibson used to manufacture a Dobro Bass, but for some reason, they discontinued them. This is the only Dobro bass that I know of as being currently available. It possesses tremendous volume, projection and bite. The tone and projection is dependent on the spun cone and spider bridge giving it a natural amplification that no other acoustic bass can match.
